Teaching children about life cycles is a perfect way to help them understand the world around them and to connect them with nature. In addition, life cycles are important objectives in the elementary curriculum. It is important for students to understand the cycle of life and its recurrence in the world around them and to understand that these processes are not exclusive to mammals, but also occur in other animals and plants. In class we discussed and learned about life cycles of frogs, people, chickens, butterflies and ladybugs. We have been doing activities such as puzzles, poems, videos, books, and other activities to increase our learning. Our butterflies have yet to develop but we are watching them closely! When asked "what do you know about butterflies?" the children knew quite a bit... "egg" "wings" "yellow" "start tiny" "different colors" "eat food" "they fly" We have introduce different vocaulary such as "metamorphosis", "froglet", "pupa", "larva" and several others.
