Week 2 Fun times reading books about ocean animals. For fine motor practice
we took out the scissors and practiced holding them correctly and snipping paper and cutting on a line. Cutting with scissors works on the separation of two sides of the hand and strengthens hand muscles. Bilateral coordination is also addressed when they have to hold the scissors in one hand and paper in the other. Snipping paper is the first stage of cutting with scissors and refers to the single open and shut motion of cutting into a page.
We practiced drawing and using stencils to make ocean pictures.
We manipulated Wiki sticks to make some ocean scences or just fun designs. See our Wiki book below
For gross motor - lots of music and movement to help us wake up our bodies and brains during morning meeting. The children always enjoy the playground by climbing, running, and riding bikes. There are balls to kick and throw as well as chalk/bubbles to play with too!
